Event:Washington, D.C. -

In June, 1996, men and women from the Philadelphia area traveled to Washington DC to participate in the "Stand For Children" event. Together with others from the Washington DC area they set up a display offering free information about circumcision.

In the course of only five hours, countless people stopped and took hundreds of pamphlets. Some of the comments by those who stopped included, "My brother is intact and went to see a physician about circumcision. When he saw what he was going to be cut away he decided against it and left. He definitely made the right decision." From a mother carrying her infant son. "When he was born we had to fight some of the physicians to keep his penis normal. I lived in Denmark before he was born. They don't practice circumcision there and think it's barbaric." A gentleman stopped to talk and identified himself as a surgeon and Jewish. He requested and was given information on an alternate bris.

The display stand proved that Americans are really interested in learning more about circumcision, why it shouldn't be done, and the advantages of a normal penis.

Only in America....
