Call your coordinator to volunteer. There are many jobs available!

Our Little League is a success through volunteers!  Fairfax Little League depends upon countless volunteers for everything from managing and coaching to umpiring to snack bars, field maintenance, fund raising, etc.  You can volunteer to help by contacting one of your volunteer coordinators.

Little League Volunteer Application Form

Managers and Coaches Needed!

Each team needs a manager and several coaches.  We have openings to manage our League teams.  Beyond the direct responsibilities of working with their team, each manager and coach will maintain contact with the parents of their players and represent the Little League program in recruiting assistance for the various functions within the League, such as fields and grounds, umpires, contact parents, etc.  Managing and coaching can be a fun and rewarding experience.  If you are interested in managing or coaching a team, contact your League President, Player Agent, or Director of Minors.  Visit the League Information Page.

Fields and Grounds

The condition of the playing fields should be of utmost concern to all parents.  Our goal is to have fields that are safe, attractive and well kept.  We need volunteers for both preseason and regular maintenance.  In addition to normal field and ground maintenance work, we are looking for volunteers with specialties such as electricians, carpenters and painters.  Call the Director of Fields and Grounds if you can help.  Clean up days for the Spring 2000 season will be Saturday, March 25th for Junior, Major and AAA Leagues and Saturday, April 8th for Minor Leagues and T-Ball.

Umpires

Well-trained and interested umpires are as essential as the players themselves, to ensure a great season!  Volunteers are needed for all games during the year for T-Ball through Majors.  Visit our Umpires Page to find out how you can offer your assistance.   Equipment and training are provided by the League.

Contact Parents

Parents from each team help the team manager as telephone contacts and with other duties as needed.  The Contact Parent organizes the making of a team banner to carry on opening day and to hang at each game.   These parents are the communication link in the League.  Information concerning the games, practices, team fundraising, pictures and the like are passed through contact parents.  Contact Parents help organize the candy fundraiser and pick up candy for distribution to the team.  (There is a separate Bat-A-Thon coordinator.)   Contact Parents collect team monies for snacks, parties, etc.

Bat-A-Thon Coordinators

Check out the Bat-A-Thon Volunteer's Page.  The site provides information on current events for Bat-A-Thon coordinators and field judges.

Each coach must recruit a Bat-A-Thon Coordinator for their Team.  The Bat-A-Thon team coordinator must be positive, energetic and pleasantly persistent.

OUTLINE OF DUTIES:

  1. Be knowledgeable of the program
The coordinator must attend one general meeting. All guidelines, instructions and materials will be provided to the coordinator. They must read and become familiar with these materials.

  2. Team presentations
The coordinator will present the program to the players and parents at a team meeting. The coach will assist with this presentation. (This should be scheduled after a game.)

  3. Solicitation follow-up
The coordinator and head coach set team goals. During the solicitation period, the coordinator should help motivate the players and families towards achieving their goal.

  4. The Bat-A-Thon
The coordinator should recruit parent volunteers to assist with the Bat-A-Thon as needed. The coordinator will assist their team players at the Bat-A-Thon.

  5. Collections
The coordinator will follow up with players through the collection and turn-in process.

THE COORDINATORS' DUTIES ARE NOT DIFFICULT, BUT THEY ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE PROGRAM.
